Automation Engineer - 3 Openings (Eastern NC)

Castle Hill Technologies has openings on our team for supporting ongoing projects and continuous support for custom process control and automation systems for Clients within eastern North Carolina. These exciting opportunities allow our employees to work alongside the project team, developing system architectures, designs and specifications, programs, testing, troubleshooting, and startup the PLC, SCADA/HMI and MES systems.

Automation Engineer

Your duties as a Automation Engineer will include (but are not limited to):

  • Support clients in an Owner’s representative role when your services are requested.

  • Support all aspects of the performance of automated manufacturing systems from initial concept and throughout production operations. Depending on workload, this may include engineering design tasks, management of external suppliers, or improvement of existing processes.  

  • Support the development of schedules and budgets and help track progress throughout the project cycle. 

  • Act as a primary supplier contact and interface with the client on assigned projects. 

  • Work as a member of cross-functional project teams, ensuring the needs of clients are met within schedule.  

  • Support evaluation of the need for upgrades and repairs of client automation equipment and/or design of new equipment. 

  • Coordinate necessary drawing revisions, specifications, and work instructions as applicable, required for automation upgrades and repairs. Prepare final machine documentation, including engineering drawings, work instructions, procedures, and operator manuals.  

  • Train internal personnel and customers as needed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and maintain proper machine safeties to ensure employees are protected when operating any piece of automation.

  • Evaluate and participate in equipment design and manufacturability.

  • Ensure automation lines are meeting their targeted output and OEE.

  • Maintain quality finished product through proper maintenance and operation of all automation.

  • Program, troubleshoot, and repair all automation.

  • Assists Maintenance in troubleshooting and repairing other equipment.

  • Coordinate and Perform end of arm repairs and fabrication.

  • Evaluates and maintains accurate documentation of automation repairs and adjustments.

  • Maintain an inventory of automation spare parts with proper cataloging to minimize downtime.

  • Establish and maintain an escalation plan to minimize downtime.

  • Improve line efficiencies using line history and production data.

  • Provide timely notification to shift leaders and program managers of maintenance and downtime issues.

  • Interfaces daily with engineering manager and shift support staff.

  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned

Depending on which opening some travel and training will be required.
